Welcome to the yearly meeting of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy in Catania, 24 to 26th June, 2010
The School of Pharmacy of the University of Catania (Italy) and the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP) are delighted to invite you to the annual EAFP conference on pharmaceutical education held in Catania from 24 to 26th June 2010.
Earlier congresses have mainly focused on different aspects of the master degree in pharmacy (Bologna first and second cycle) and on the developments required in further education and specialization (third cycle). We have a need now to analyze training requirements for a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to pharmacy education. This includes multidisciplinary laboratories, training in regulatories affairs, hospital pharmacy for a learning across health professions and bioengeneering. During the congress we will look closer to the training of pharmacist as part of the health team analyzing practical experiencies in hospital/clinical pharmacy, community pharmacy and nursing homes, clinical chemistry/biology and medicininal chemistry, nutritional pharmacy and more. We will also present how European universities approach these aspects.
Faculty members, pharmacy students and members of pharmaceutical institutions are welcome to participate in the conference. You are all invited to present posters on best practices in pharmacy education using multi and interdisciplinary approach, and some posters will be invited for oral presentation during the symposium.
Catania is one of the biggest cities in Sicily. It is situated south of Mt. Etna, between Taormina and Siracusa, in the heart of Magna Grecia. The congress will take place during midsummer time in the old "Monastero dei Benedettini", seat of the Faculty of Umanities of the University of Catania. Do not miss this unique opportunity to discuss and develop pharmaceutical education in Europe while enjoying the fantastic Mediterranean naturalistic beauties with colleagues and friends. We heartily welcome you to Catania.
